Anti-wrinkle injections, just like any other injectable procedure at Eltham Cosmetic Clinic, begins with a thorough consultation with one of our Registered Nurse injectors.

During the consultation, your experienced injector assessing the movement of the muscles of your face; and the subsequent lines and wrinkles that may have started to form.

Once you have decided with your injector the areas you wish to treat, a treatment plan and quotation are provided, and before the treatment itself can be administered, a consultation with one of our resident doctors takes place.

The treatment itself involves injecting the anti-wrinkle toxin (which appears as a clear liquid), with a tiny needles, into the muscles of the face in the targeted treatment area. The entire injecting time is as little as twenty seconds in many cases! The procedure is quick and relatively comfortable.

It takes 4-7 days to start noticing the effects of the treatment; which will be that the muscles of the targeted area are weaker and less able to contract and animate than they were before. We consider that after fourteen days, the final results of your treatment have manifested in terms of the muscle relaxation; and that from this point onward, the lines and wrinkles on the skin will continue to soften and fade.

Please note that lines in the skin that are permanent and ‘static’, which means they are constantly visible on the skin both at rest and when animating, do not vanish after fourteen days. These lines may have taken months, if not years, to become permanently etched into the skin, and it may take several weeks to months, and potentially multiple anti-wrinkle injection treatment sessions with your injector, to allow for the skin to heal and rebuild, and repair the creases that have been damaged into the skin. Our nurses will provide you with all the education and knowledge required in terms of what you can do at home to optimise this process, and to get the very best out of your treatment results and longevity.

After the anti-wrinkle injections are performed, the full effects of the treatment can be seen at the fourteen-day mark, at which time your injector invites you back to the clinic for a brief follow-up appointment to assess and review your results, ensure the dose was effective for you, and answer any other queries you may have regarding your treatment.

Clients often report seeing changes taking place after 3-4 days; for others it can take around a week before they notice changes. Lifestyle factors such as sun exposure and hydration can have an impact on the appearance of the treatment results too.

The overall cost of your dermal filler treatment (or treatments) depends on several factors; what your goals and desired outcomes are, your age, the quality of the skin, and other medical and lifestyle factors.

Our clinicians are trained to keep your budget and financial situation in mind when providing treatment planning and quotes, and often will suggest other treatment approaches in order to obtain a better aesthetic outcome with their recommendations. We are here to provide a thorough consult and educate you on all the available options, what they involve, and then hone in on the treatments most relevant and affordable to you. Oftentimes the treatment plan is created, and then executed in stages, staggering the treatments several months apart.

The answer to both of these commonly-asked questions is, no!

Our emphasis here at Eltham Cosmetic Clinic is always on skin health first and foremost, and this means using cosmeceutical skincare products regularly at home, finding and SPF you love and that suits your skin (we can help you with this!), and also lifestyle factors such as adequate sleep and hydration through consistent water intake. If any of these elements are not taking place, premature ageing can happen to those in their early twenties, so education on these topics if our first port-of-call for younger people.

Anti-wrinkle injections can be used ‘preventatively’ in those who have particularly strong facial muscles, and who can, even at an early age, see the signs of repetitive expressions causing damage to a particular area, to weaken the muscles causing these lines, and soften the area, preventing deep creases forming.

As for clients who feel it's ‘too late’, this is simply not the case! For existing facial lines and wrinkles that have formed on the skin, and are present constantly, whether the face is animating or at rest, fear not! A multi-faceted approach is required to treat these lines; and a consultation with our experienced staff is the first port of call to see which skin products and treatments is required, to be used alongside anti-wrinkle injections. We offer a diverse range of skin solutions for all skin types and age groups, and those who have formed lines and wrinkles in the skin will be walked through the various modalities we have available to treat them.

Due to the very gradual nature of anti-wrinkle toxin treatments, it would be very hard for others to detect you’d had this treatment. Results slowly develop over the first fourteen days following your injectable procedure, and unless you tell them, people rarely can tell! We often hear from clients that those around them say “You’re looking refreshed” or “have you had a facial of some sort?” but can’t quite put their finger on what has changed.

Side effects can include redness to the treatment area, slight redness and swelling to the injection sites, and in some cases, small bruises. Some clients experience a dull headache in the hours or days that follow their initial treatment; all of which is normal and not considered an adverse outcome.
